Hiking in San Gimignao
- Hiking in Tuscany through vineyards and history -
Technical details
Description
Hiking in Tuscany is the best way to enjoy a different experience of the Medieval town of San Gimignano and get lost in its beautiful hills combed with vineyards.
Our walk starts just a km outside San Gimignano, and throughout all its length we will have amazing views of the famous towered Tuscan village. Our path is a comfortable country road that will move gently up and down through hills covered with the vineyards that make this area so famous.
We will encounter wineries and ancient villages, up to half way through our hike, when we will leave the beaten path and take a secret country road through untouched hills that will make us feel like we are totally lost in a Tuscan dream, where we will have our picnic lunch. After a couple of km in this setting we will get close to civilization again, and we will walk a small length of asphalted road.
Once we regain the country roads we will have, if we desire, a guided visit of one of the most ancient vineries in Italy, that used to belong to the king himself. After the tour or just a stop to enjoy a glass of water or small glass of Vernaccia di San Gimignano wine. Then we will re gain a bit of altitude, climbing a small hill that will bring us back on sight of San Gimignano. From there is all easy and leveled through amazing sceneries back to the place we started.
